Why does history matter?

Millcreek Canyon is a result
of 20 million years
of geologic activity. Nomadic Paleo-Indians
most likely hunted in this area
during the late ice age from
about 12,000-8,000 B.C.

The canyon got its name from mills
established from the 1850s
through the 1890s by
Latter-day Saint pioneers.
These mills dotted the trail all the
way up to the top of East Millcreek Road.
